January 28th

  • Club D morning meetings will be this Friday during enrichment.
  • Senior Portrait Retakes will be Friday, February 7th from 7:15 am - 10:30 am. 
  • Sign-ups are now available in the main office for 3 on 3 basketball and table tennis during intramurals. Sign up or turn in rosters to Mr. Rose in the gym by Friday.
  • The Leo Club will be taking orders for flowers that will be delivered on February 13th. Flowers are one dollar each or a dozen for 10 dollars. You can order them in the cafeteria at lunch time any day this week.

  • The theme for tomorrow night's game against Dover is USA in appreciation of our military.  We did not get to do Military Appreciation NIght since it was on an away game so we are doing it Tuesday.  So dress in red, white, and blue to show appreciation for our military.
  • The ACT Prep Class for the April 4, 2020 ACT test is coming up! Registration will end on Feb. 18. The class days are on Sundays from 5-6:30 on Feb. 23 - March 29th. Registration papers are in the guidance office. Class Space is limited, so hurry and submit your registration! Classes will take place at the Muskingum County Community Foundation.
  • Coshocton County Youth Leadership, a program of the Coshocton Foundation, is seeking applicants for the class of 2021. Sophomores apply for the program to attend during their junior year. Develop your leadership skills, increase self-confidence, interact & network with students from area high schools & learn more about your community! Sophomores, please consider applying for the Class of 2021. Applications are available through your high school guidance office or by visiting the CCYL website at www.coshoctonfoundation.org/leadership. The deadline to apply for participation in 20251 is March 1st. Current River View High School students participating are: Zach Balo, Leah Brinker, Macey Geog, Aleigha Hardesty, Brayden Karr, Luke Massie, Tyler Nicely and Nathaniel Stamper. Want to learn more?   • The Speech Team competed at Norton High School on Saturday. Bailey Bowman placed 13th overall in US Extemp, while Faith Reeves and Dusty Bassett placed 3rd in one of their rounds, Ruthie Cameron had a 2nd place in one of her rounds, and Bri Blackstone and Andrew Jacob, and Kiera McPeck all had 4th place in one of their rounds. Overall, the team represented RVHS very well!

    This Saturday the team travels to Olentangy High School for District competition.  Congratulations!

 

January 21st

  • RV Swimmers completed the Tri-Valley Big Dawg Invite yesterday. The boys took second of 10 teams, missing first to Reynoldsburg by 8 pts. The girls placed 5th.

    The Bears complete in two league championships this weekend. Friday-ECOL at Coshocton and Saturday MVL @ Zanesville MRC.

January 16th

Items such as cleaners, pet toys, dog and cat food, laundry detergent, towels and newspaper. Please bring donations to the box in the main office. Thank you in advance for your donations. .
  • On Sunday, Feb. 9, there is a National College Fair with hundreds of different colleges, programs, and universities all in one place. It will last from 1-4pm. This College fair will be held in Columbus at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Register for free at gotomyncf.com 

  • Applications for Journalist of the Year are now available to students. The essay is a self-analytical about yourself. The contest for this honor begins at state level, where a student can win a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Ohio Scholastic Media Association. Winners of the state competition will move on to the national competition, where students compete for a $3,000 scholarship. The portfolio and essay are due Jan. 24. To find out more information about Journalist of the Year, go to jea.org. Winners will be announced on April 4 at the OSMA state convention. 

  • The Application for Coshocton County Youth Leadership for 2020-2021 is due March 1. Applications are available in the main office. This is a great opportunity for students and can look great on a college application.

  • Students of all ages interested in earning an IT degree are gaining a great opportunity to learn more about how to obtain the degree through Zane State College. ZS faculty and IT experts will be ready to answer your questions on January 21st at 330 pm in College Hall Room 238. No Appointment necessary!

  • The Ohio Dept. of Transportation - District 5 is looking for qualified applicants for 2020 Summer Transportation Seasonal Help. Help is needed in the Coshocton, Fairfield, Guernsey, Knox, Licking, Muskingum, and Perry County Garages. Call (740) 323-5165 for more information on applying. 

  • The 2020 Tuscarawas Valley Ohio International Bridge Building Regional Contest is coming soon and all are welcome to compete. For anyone interested in engineering or technology as a career, this can be very influential. It takes place on Feb. 19 in the gymnasium of Kent State Tuscarawas.

  • If you are travelling to the boys game at Cambridge on Friday, please wear red, white, and blue in honor of Military Appreciation Night in the state of Ohio. All schools are requested to honor our military whether you are home or away. 

  • Attention Chess Club! The after school chess meeting will be on Friday this week. 

  • WE collected 51 units at the blood drive. Thank you to all the staff and students.

  • Monday night the Lady Bears Bowling team had a home match against conference foe Garaway. The Lady Bears rolled away with a victory 2182-1788 over the Lady Pirates to go to 5-1 in conference play! Leading the way for the Lady Bears was Marie Stufflebean 393 and Benni Winland 349! The Lady Bears had a great night with Benni Winland setting a PR with a 189 game and the lineup of Allie Murray, Adison Smith, Madalyn Cutshall, Benni Winland and Marie Stufflebean set a New School Record for bakers with a 217 game! Top bowler from Garaway was Mallory Millet 284! The Lady Bears will be back in action January 18th as they travel to the Dover Classic!

  • A representative from the University of Northwestern Ohio will be here today. He will be in the Cafeteria during 4th period and in Mr. Rich's room during 5th period. Any student that is interested in learning more about programs offered at UNOH may attend.

  • The Speech Team traveled to North Canton Hoover High School on Saturday to compete with 35 teams from around the state of Ohio. After four full rounds of competition, Bailey Bowman came in 1st in one of her rounds, Ruthie Cameron had a 2nd and 3rd place in rounds, and Wyatt Lawrence had a 3rd place in one of his rounds. All other team members made improvements in their round placements. Well done, RV Speech Team!
  • The Speech Team will NOT practice today. Mrs. Ferris will be available right after school on Wednesday and Thursday for team members to do run-throughs with feedback. Let Mrs. Ferris know if you can stay on Wednesday or Thursday.

  • The music department is proud to announce this year's musical, The Addams Family.  Auditions will be held on January 23 and 24.  An informational meeting will be held this Friday in the choir room during 6th and 7th period, and in the band room during 8th period.  If these times do not work for you, please see Mrs. Wymer for an audition packet.

  • January 9th is National Law Enforcement Appreciation day. On this day we call our nation's citizens to action in support of our law enforcement. We ask everyone to wear blue tomorrow in support of our law enforcement. For everyone who wears blue we will meet in the gym for a picture and sign a card to give to the sheriff's department to thank them for all they have done

  • The Bears Swim teams competed in the Viking Classic over the weekend. Near 500 swimmers swam. The girls finished 11th of 24. The boys 3rd of 23. Top finishers

  • Saturday the black bears boys bowling team traveled to heath to complete in the Muskingum University Invitational. Leading the team was senior Brice Starcher with a 405 series.
